Worldly Love vs. The Love of God

So you’ve been through it all with this guy. Five years of absolute bliss—well a majority of the time. Yeah there have been some great times, but also some not so great times. I’m talking about the name-calling, cheating, lies, the laziness, the overall selfish attitude he tends to display from time to time, and oh yeah, the fact that he has no real goals. But hey, nobody’s perfect right? Even the best of couples argue so it’s only right that you and your Mr. “Right” are allotted a fair share of arguments too without question, right?

Wrong.

In fact ladies if this sounds anything like your relationship, drop everything you’re doing and pay attention because God has a life-changing word for you.

To put it simply, there are two kinds of love: you have worldly love, and the love of God. The way satan works is he wants to distract you from the love God has for you, and he will distract you with a person who is not worth your time of day. Luckily for us, we serve a transparent God who never leaves us in the blind. So today satan will be exposed.

Worldly Love

Worldly love is the love you want to avoid like the plague. Here’s the typical rundown: people in worldly relationships are the first on Facebook posting pictures coupled up with their Facebook ordained husband, and two seconds later their relationship status goes from “married” to “single.” We all know someone in that kind of relationship, and nowadays society pushes us to embrace that kind of shallow romance.

Popular culture teaches us that we are to lose our virginity at a young age, and this opens up the door to a future of dating many men and having sexual relations with them. Somehow after all of these sexual acts and unhealthy soul ties, the right man is expected to just come along one day. When pursuing worldly love, pain and heartbreak are a ritual that a woman must go through in order find the “right one.” How many times have you had your heart crushed and heard from a friend, “don’t worry he may not be Mr. Right, but he’ll come to you soon.” As long as you are aiming for love from those of this world you will never find true love. True love can only come from God.

Ditch the worldly love movies and songs!

Let’s get some things straight. Love cannot come from a game of basketball, or from a few days on a ship. Lil Wayne can’t teach you how to love, and no matter what Beyoncé says, love is NOT supposed to be dangerous.

These romanticized deceptions of love are satan’s attempts to get you to settle for less.

John Singleton’s Baby Boy released in 2001 is one of the worst examples. The scariest thing is there are women who swear by this movie! The message women were to take from this film: Stick to your man no matter how much he cheats or how childish he may be, because someday he will change and be all you want him to be. Don’t waste your time! Only the love of God can change a man. Rather than wait for that guy to change, spend that time stepping into God’s love.

1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

The Love of God

Yes true love does exist, but it can only exist through God. God is love and in order to learn about love you must go to Him. Ladies there are two important concepts we must learn from God before we can receive the man God has in store for us: How to love and how to accept love.

1 John 3:16
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (NIV)

1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (NIV)

Remember we are God’s children and our perceptions of danger are only a small portion of all the dangers that actually surrounds us. God protects us from far more than we think. As the presence of the enemy continues to increase in this world, the amount of shady men will also increase. That is the men who wish to use us, insult us and defile us.

2 Timothy 3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of Godliness but denying its power. And such people turn away! For this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Stay rooted in God

I urge you sisters to seek God and ask for His forgiveness. Ask to be washed in the blood of Jesus Christ so you may no longer be bond to the temporary pleasures of sin that leaves you empty and alone. Get to know God. Talk to Him! The same way you call your friends when you are down you can call onto God. He will listen. He loves you more than you can ever imagine. No matter what you have done, He loves you!!!

Satan is a liar!!! No matter what sins you have committed God loves you and no matter how hopeless a situation may seem, God can bring you out. Just ask God for help. Ask Him to take all those out of your life that is not of Him and watch God expose the wolves in sheep’s clothing in your life. Then embrace yourselves and prepare for true love to pour into your heart.
